Posted 4/1/2021: The State of Georgia has authorized COVID-19 vaccinations for all Georgia residents age 16 & up. To register for a vaccination appointment, go to District Two Public Health.

Posted 1/6/2021: The following information regarding COVID-19 vaccinations is provided by District Two Public Health:
Georgia is currently in Phase 1-A of the COVID-19 Vaccine rollout. This includes the availability of vaccination to the following:
– Healthcare providers (hospital staff, public health clinical staff, EMS and other first responders, long term care facility staff and urgent care facility staff are examples of people who will be included in this phase)
If any qualifying residents wish to register to receive a vaccine, please click here to visit the District 2 Public Health website.
Beginning Jan. 11, 2021: Adults 65 years of age and older, law enforcement and fire personnel will be eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine (based on vaccine availability). Residents are encouraged to monitor the District 2 Public Health website and Facebook page for announcements regarding COVID-19 vaccine availability and testing.

Posted 8/11/2020: City of Cumming leaders have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Cumming Country Fair & Festival, which had been scheduled for October 8-18, due to ongoing public health concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. Click here for more information. The public will, however, still have an opportunity to enjoy some of their favorite fair foods through a unique take-away food service which Fairgrounds staff members are working to develop. Check back to this page and the Fairgrounds’ Facebook Page for updates.

Posted 8/7/2020: Small business in the City of Cumming or Forsyth County with fewer than 499 employees are invited to apply for the Forsyth County CARES Small Business Grant Program. The deadline to apply for this assistance is 5 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2020. The grant can provide up to $10,000 for small businesses impacted by Covid-19 for use on working capital, equipment, payroll, healthcare benefits, contract labor, supplier payments, rent, lease or mortgage payments for real property used for business purposes, and other uses. While the program is being administered by the Forsyth County Chamber, applicants do not have to be Chamber members to qualify for the grant funding. Posted 7/21/2020: Effective July 21, 2020, the Cumming Municipal Court will utilize these guidelines for all court proceedings, pursuant to the Georgia Supreme Court. These guidelines will be in effect until otherwise amended or withdrawn.

Posted 5/20/2020: The Cumming Recreation & Parks Department has cancelled most of its traditional summer programming (such as day camps and athletic camps) through the end of June. However, some programming (such as team and upper-level gymnastics, company dance, adult art classes, and some fitness programs) are tentatively scheduled to resume on June 15, 2020. Posted 5/19/2020: The Cumming City Council Regular Meeting and Planning & Zoning Board meeting, both scheduled for May 19, 2020, at 6 p.m. and 5 p.m. respectively, will be live streamed via the City’s YouTube Channel and open to the public. Anyone attending in public is asked to practice social distancing and sit in the designated seating areas inside the Council Chambers.

Posted 5/1/2020: The City of Cumming’s Annual Memorial Day Ceremony, which would have been held on May 22, has been cancelled. However, dedications of the new 2020 Avenue of Flags families will be incorporated into the Veterans Day event on Nov. 11, 2020.
All events scheduled for May at the Cumming Fairgrounds have been cancelled or postponed.

Posted 4/29/2020: Based on state orders from Gov. Brian Kemp concerning the continued closure of public pools, the Cumming Aquatic Center will remain closed to the public through May 13, 2020. At that time, a reevaluation of the safety concerns will be made and updated information will be provided.

Posted 4/16/2020: Due to continued concerns over COVID-19 outbreak, the Cumming Recreation and Parks Department has cancelled all programs and activities through Sunday, May 24, 2020, at which time a reevaluation of the safety concerns will be made.
Since this means the cancellation of programs already underway when the suspensions began in March, pro-rated refunds will be issued for classes that were not able to be held. These refunds will be credited to the account of the person that paid for the registration for use when programs are able to begin again.
Persons seeking a monetary refund of these fees should e-mail crpdinfo@cityofcumming.net; please be sure to include the name of the child enrolled; the name of the activity, as well as the activity’s meeting day and time; and current mailing address. Refunds will be processed and checks will be mailed to the address of the person that paid for the registration. Please expect it to take three to four weeks to receive your refund.
PLEASE NOTE: The e-mail address crpdinfo@cityofcumming.net has been experiencing technical difficulties, but is now working properly (as of April 17, 2020). If you submitted a refund request to this email address between April 10th and April 17th, please resubmit that request.
Registration for summer activities, including Day Camps, Athletic Camps, Gymnastics Classes & Camps, Dance Classes & Camps, Art Classes & Camps, Self Defense classes, and Horseback Riding Classes & Camps, will be postponed until a resolution of the current situation is reached. FitPasses will be frozen at their current status and will be reinstated with the resumption of programs.

This new Executive Order also extends Georgia’s Public Health State of Emergency through 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2020. Posted 4/2/2020: Due to reduced numbers of workers and scheduling shifts resulting from the current Covid-19 situation, the City of Cumming Street Department’s regular pickup days and routes are subject to change without notice. The Department will make every effort to reach all pickups as quickly and efficiently as possible, and asks City of Cumming residents to please be patient while the Department navigates through this unusual time. Residents (within the City Limits) may still call the Street Department to schedule pick-ups at (770) 781-2019. If your call is not answered, please leave a message with your name, call back number, and information about your pickup needs. Staff members will return calls as quickly as possible. (This notice only applies to residents within the Cumming City Limits; the Cumming Street Department does not provide pickups for residents outside the City Limits.)

Due to potential confusion regarding the City of Cumming’s COVID-19 Emergency Management Order-01 and the subsequent rescinding of the Order, the City of Cumming would like to clarify what is still in place regarding the novel Coronavirus pandemic.
The March 31, 2020 COVID-19 Emergency Management Order regarding Dine-in Food Service is still effective. The March 31, 2020 COVID-19 Emergency Management Order-01 regarding social distancing has been rescinded effective immediately. The new order (Covid-19 Emergency Management Order-03) has been enacted Wednesday, April 1, 2020 with the effective date of Thursday, April 2, 2020 at 12:01 a.m.
The City of Cumming’s only goal is to promote the health, safety and well being of its citizens during this pandemic and State of Emergency. To that end, we will continue monitoring the situation with our colleagues at Forsyth County and around the State of Georgia, medical professionals, and experts to determine best courses of action.
We would like to reiterate that this pandemic is serious and would request for citizens to do their part to slow the spread by adhering to the Governor of the State of Georgia’s Order issued on March 23, 2020 and current CDC guidelines.

Posted 3/31/2020: The City of Cumming has enacted a Covid-19 Emergency Management Order which suspends all in-dining service at food service establishments in the Cumming City Limits, effective at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2020. To-go, take-out, drive-thru, and curb-side service are all still permitted, and exceptions to the order are hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and personal care homes. Additionally, the order permits food service establishments with a current City of Cumming alcohol sales license to sell new, unopened containers of alcohol along with to-go orders (food order must be of equal or greater value to the alcohol order; no alcohol-only sales). Posted 3/23/2020: Red Oak Sanitation, the solid waste service provider for residents and businesses within the Cumming City Limits, has issued a statement regarding their service procedures during this time. Service will continue to run as usual, however, only bagged trash that has been placed inside the trash cart and recyclable materials placed inside the recycling cart will be picked up. Any items placed outside the carts will not be picked up.

Posted 3/23/2020: The Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce will present a free webinar focused on assisting businesses with the application for the Small Business Administration’s Disaster Relief Loan. Alex Warner, Existing Industry Project Manager, will help businesses learn if the loan program is right for them, and walk participants through the steps of applying. The webinar will be presented from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24 (register here) and from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 26 (register here).

Posted 3/19/2020: The City of Cumming encourages our residents and businesses to check out a new initiative from the Forsyth County Chamber called TOGETHER 4 FOCO. Through this effort, the Chamber is taking the lead in supporting the Cumming-Forsyth County business community in dealing with the economic consequences of COVID-19. Through the Together4FOCO website and Facebook group, businesses and the local community as a whole can come together to share ways to support each other as we all work through this challenging time in our history.
